Setting Up A Treadmill Desk At Home

The home office may be the best place to gain the benefits of walking while you work. Your home office can be more easily designed to accommodate your fitness needs than a traditional company setting. You have the luxury of creating the environment in your workspace that you want without worry about disturbing your coworkers.

When you are setting up your treadmill desk at home, you should consider the type of work that you typically do at your desk. If you spend a lot of time typing on your computer, the height of the desk will be your main concern. Make sure that you adjust the desk to a height that allows for comfortable typing while you are working. Keep the treadmill at a reasonable one mile per hour pace so that you can effectively work while you are walking. A faster pace might make it a little difficult to keep your hands steady enough to type.

Software accessories can be used to help you with your work while you are walking. Voice activated software will allow you to have more freedom while you are walking and eliminate some of the need to use your hands. Even your coffee cup should accommodate your movement while you are working and walking.

There are a number of brands of treadmills on the market, but try to choose one that allows you to control the belt with a remote control. Just picking up the remote to turn the treadmill on and control the speed will eliminate the need to incorporate the control panel of the treadmill into your desk design.

Once you have the right height on your desk and the ideal treadmill, setting up the treadmill desk is relatively simple. Be careful of cords while you are setting up your computer on the desk and make sure that you still have the ability to sit when you have to. If you have been sitting for a while at your desk, you might find an eight hour day on the treadmill a bit much.

We all spend a great deal of time working and including a little exercise while we work is the ultimate multitasking activity. Get the blood moving and see if you are more productive while using the treadmill desk. The amount of calories that you can burn while you are getting your work done will amaze you. Walking at a one mile per hour rate can burn as much as one hundred calories per hour.
